Evaluating the Role of Irrigation in Agricultural Sustainability
This pilot study, conducted in the Loskop irrigation scheme, assesses the economic, social, and food security implications of South Africa’s National Water Resource Strategy 2 (NWRS-2) on irrigated agriculture. Highlighting the sector’s vulnerability to water allocation reforms, the report underscores the need for a national assessment to ensure long-term viability and alignment with the goals of the National Development Plan.
